Skills and knowledge are developed by:

• Use of maps and map making
• Knowledge and use of the eight main compass points
• Research, using books and the internet
• A range of presentation styles, such as labelled diagrams and graphs, and different text genres, such as non-chronological reports and explanations
• Use of geographical equipment, such as compasses, to assist with fieldwork
