School Council

We have a great new School Council for September 2025 with representatives from Year 1 to Year 5. Our youngest children are very excited as we are trying out Year 1 for the very first time! We meet regularly throughout each term. Miss White is leading the group this year with support from Mrs Statham.

They will continue to be partners in our Intergenerational Project with our neighbours at Hollybank Nursing home.  The residents look forward to talking to our children so much. We already have some events planned for this year, including a very popular Pancake Tossing afternoon!

The School Council will also work closely with The Collective Community Trust. The Year 3/4/5 representatives are attending the first ever Trust School Council Conference at Bury Town Hall. They will be meeting the Mayor of Bury throughout the day.

They will also be planning some fundraising events for school as well ... And hopefully running Cams Lane's Got Talent in the Summer term!

Ocotber 2025

Our School Council enjoyed an exciting visit to Bury Town Hall, where they had the opportunity to sit in the council chambers and experience local democracy in action. They were warmly welcomed by the Mayor, who spoke to them about his role and responsibilities.

The children then took part in a mock council debate, discussing whether school uniform should be scrapped. Everyone joined in with enthusiasm, sharing their views and listening to each other before making a decision.

It was a fantastic experience that gave our pupils a real insight into how councils work and how important it is to have a voice in the community.
