Ilaria the Storyteller

Our class took part in an exciting project, which will help to celebrate the new Radcliffe Hub, which will be built in the heart of the town centre.

We helped create stories, for an illustrated children's book, which will be Illustrated by a local artist.

We worked with Ilaria the Storyteller, who led a fun and interactive storytelling workshop: she brought lots of finger-puppets to inspire our writing. Our inspiration came from old letters about the dispersal of collections from Close House Museum, which closed in 1949. These letters told fascinating stories of taxidermy animals being sent to schools and museums across the country.

The children imagined new adventures for these animals—where did the leopard go after the museum closed? Who did the chimpanzees befriend? Where did the dormice curl up at night?

We had a fun, noisy afternoon and enjoyed sharing our ideas!
