Art - Map It Out
In our art unit 'Map It Out', we first created a pencil drawing of our local area and coloured it in with pencil crayons. Next, we chose part of the map to make a relief map using different coloured card and fabric to make a 3D picture. After that, we created a piece of abstract art. It was still part of the map but with all the detail removed. We made them from coloured cellophane. These looked like stained-glass windows, so we displayed them on our class window. Finally, we experimented with printing. We drew an outline on a polystyrene square of part of our map. Then we rolled ink over it. Next, we placed a piece of paper on top and rolled over it again. When we took the paper off, it was like magic. Our design had transferred onto the paper. We all displayed our artwork in the hall on the lunchtime tables. We looked at each other's work and discussed what we liked and why. Mrs Cooper and the art ambassadors came to look at our art gallery.
