Hollybank Care Home
As a project developed by the Fair Futures Community Interest Company and funded by The Linking Network and The Allen Lane Foundation, residents of Hollybank Care Home and the children of Cams Lane Primary School have been working together in an amazing project to promote the younger and older generations to collaborate and work together.
The Radcliffe based school, part of The Collective Community Trust, have been working with their neighbours of Hollybank, on a variety of projects. They started last year in a series of events such as an Afternoon Tea and Choir performance, and also an Art and Craft project working with a local artist.
This term the School Council members have been visiting the residents for a Remembrance Day art afternoon and also for a Christmas craft project afternoon. The children worked with the residents and produced some great artwork. The residents have loved talking and working with the children and real connections have been made.
School has also raised £140 in a luxury hamper raffle from which the care home can buy extra special items for the residents.
The residents will also enjoy a visit from our school choir towards the end of the term for a Christmas Carol concert.
Mrs Statham, Headteacher of Cams Lane, has thoroughly enjoyed working with Cristiana Cocora, the Activity Co-ordinator from Hollybank, to plan such worthwhile events for the residents and children. We are already planning events for the Spring term as well. Many thanks for the support from the owners/management of Hollybank.
